Since Underwoods was founded in 1957, there have been dramatic changes in merchandising throughout the world…..and yet, in merchandising so-called “blind items” such as diamonds, gems and precious metals, the age-old cornerstones of knowledge, ethics and trust still remain the most important protections for the consumer.
Since our first website in 1996, the Internet has grown exponentially, and will continue to grow, although more selectively. The Internet is an excellent place to research products and availability, but is not always the best place to buy, especially when buying “blind items” where considerable expense is involved.
With that in mind, this new Underwood website is tailored toward providing information to you rather than selling specific merchandise. It contains several indexed topics containing factual, honest information that will help you make a safe purchase. The information and photos are unvarnished.
Since jewelry is a “blind item”, (a blind item is an item that requires knowledge, experience and training in order to judge quality and value…..that is, not comparable by brand or model number), this website is designed to provide you with quality information to help you along your path of research.

It is a very common practice for websites showing jewelry to enhance and touch up their photos to make their merchandise look better than it really is. Such images really become “virtual rings” or “virtual diamonds” instead of a photograph of the real thing. By contrast, all of our images are actual photographs that are not enhanced or doctored in any way. In fact, in many cases you can see the little metal clip that holds the ring is position for photographing.
